This has been an important summer for Turtle Pace Farm. We added 15 open acres of land that we are now in the process of transitioning for organic production. Here is our first effort, cover cropping buckwheat to add organic matter.
Tonight is the night for the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Farm-to-Table Dinner, Serving up the Shore. Serving up the Shore is fast approaching and we are so pleased to be able to participate once again in this Farm to Table Dinner. Chef Amy Brandt of Amy B Catering is using our cucumbers, turnips and Shiso to create a fabulous sampler of pickles.
So many turnips…so little time. I’ve found some great recipes in Vivian Howard’s book Deep Run Roots as well as Vegetables Every Day by Jack Bishop.
